404 Productions is looking for young aspiring artists aged 16 to 23 to join professional theatre makers at a residential retreat and embark upon a Journey to the Centre of the Earth in the development of a new theatrical production of Jules Verne’s classic story.
The first stage of our creative journey involves a residential retreat from the 27th - 29th April 2018 in the New Forest; an intensive weekend of play and development involving games, exercises, devising and improvisation activities to explore the themes and ideas behind Jules Verne’s story of a small group of people who set out to discover an unknown world beneath our feet.
All our projects involve putting young aspiring creatives in a room alongside professional artists, to enable them to learn from each other and develop skills and knowledge that will help them prepare themselves for a potential career in the arts.
The weekend is an opportunity to meet and work with likeminded people in a risk free environment, and contribute to the creation of a new theatrical production at its conceptual stage. Led by 404 Productions Artistic Director Daniel Hill, the weekend will be an active and enjoyable way to discover first hand the process of devising from an existing story.
"Putting young people and professionals in a room together on equal footing is what 404 productions is all about, to be able to bring people together at the genesis of our next project is very exciting"
Participants need to be aged 16 plus and have an interest in the arts, we will also be asking all participants to have read Jules Verne's book Journey to the Centre of the Earth before attending the weekend. All food and accommodation is provided.
Places are limited, if you wish to get involved please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 6th April 2018, stating why it is you are interested in taking part in this project.
